What is your passion?
What do you really want to do with your life?
Are you happy with your current work?
These are the questions which we often hear or ask ourselves. Often these questions come to our mind when we are not happy with our work for whatever reasons (lets not get into that) or when we come across some documentaries in which how a poor/common person became successful and rich just following his/her Passion. Sometimes these unfavorable situations (not liking your work) or sudden motivations from documentaries/autobiographies/biographies give us a kick to do something with our life. In that moment, either we say one of the following things:
I am too old for this
I have no time to pursue my passion
I am too young for this
I want to but don’t know if there is a future
People around me think that this is a bad idea
I believe that age limit, time limit, people’s opinions and insecurities can’t stop us to pursue our passion. I think that some of us have mixed up the two words ‘Passion‘ and ‘Hobby‘ and assumed that they are the same (they are not). If you haven’t and still not dedicating little bit of your time on your passion, apart from your daily schedule then you must ask yourself that
Have you really cared about your passion?
Did you try to pursue what you love and make it your dream project?
Now, you might say pursuing passion and have a good earning from it is quite difficult. Yes, it is true and I agree but here lies the problem. The problem is to seek for results even before taking the first step towards your goals. The problem is that we start questioning ourselves that
What is going to happen if I leave my 9-5 job and pursue my passion?
Well, I would say give your passion a chance, be good at what you love (to do) and then use it to create some business opportunities. I believe some of you have answers but still one of you (maybe You) are not sure about what I am saying. So let me try once again to convince you that why you need to give your Passion a chance? (not going to leave anyone behind)
First, let me ask you a simple question and if your answer turns out to be ‘Yes’ then I would say this blog failed completely and maybe I am wrong. So, here is my question to You
Is there a single successful person in the world who was not passionate about his/her work?
I would say, None (If there is/was then please comment below). Every rich and successful person has a beautiful and motivating story. A story in which they were fascinated, motivated and passionate about something. Something for which they sacrificed their normal life and worked hard to turn that something into a product. Yes they failed but did they stop?. No, they worked even harder and now we read/write about their success stories. Are you convinced now? No!! (let me try even harder)
We want to be successful in our lives. Now, definition of success differs from person to person. It is kind of relative to our needs. So lets say we want to be our own boss or we don’t want to just work 9-5 jobs because it’s repetitive and boring. Agreed?? Then we must ask ourselves:
What are we doing to achieve our desire?
Switching from one job to another for higher pay-checks or to get to higher positions. Does switching from one job to another every year or two not bring instability in your life? If it doesn’t then how long is it going to work? Or if it does then Why are you scared about following your passion and your dream? Why not give passion a chance?
Please don’t get me wrong as I am not trying to influence you to quit your jobs and pursue your passion. I am asking you to at-least start dedicating 1 hour/day of your life towards your passion; use your passion to create something (Yes, that something which makes people RICH) and you’ll be amazed to see the results. Now, the results might come early or be delayed (that depends on your dedication) but it will be fruitful; if not in terms of money then in terms of happiness. If it didn’t work then at least in the end you can tell yourself that “I tried but didn’t work” or You can write me back and trust me I will again try to convince you.
Your passion could be anything. Maybe you like to create music, maybe you are into arts, cooking, archery, playing “clash of clans” or whatever…it doesn’t matter. What matters is the story behind it. Your story: how you became so passionate about it? So, passionate that you didn’t get to know when it turned from hobby to your passion . Your struggle, your failure and how you lost your motivation but you gathered your scattered pieces again and kept going. In the end, this story and the outcome of your passion in terms of product in the market will define you and you will love it.
People around us also play an important role in affecting our thoughts a lot, in a good or bad way. If you are around motivating people, your efficiency will increase because you’ll also get motivated. On the other hand if you are surrounded by people who don’t have any idea about your field of interest, they often start making fun or tell the end story that how you will fail if you are going to pursue it. Well, I will say before getting influenced by those people ask yourself that
What have they done in their life?
Have they given a chance to their passion?
If your answer is “No” then stay away from them. Don’t get me wrong, I am totally in favor of criticism. In fact, I believe criticism can help you to grow but then you have to be sure the person who is criticizing you has some knowledge about the field you are working on. Most of the successful people around the world followed a mantra when they were working hard to bring their dreams into reality. The mantra was to cut-off themselves from the world and surround themselves with few motivating and highly skilled people. They did this to stay motivated and informed about their mistakes when working on a product. Once the product was finished then they opened themselves for feedback and criticism from all kinds of people to fix the issues (still the preference to majority rather than individual is given to make any changes in the product. Makes sense!).
In the end I would say:
Try to be positive without thinking about the future result. Try to be positive for the sake of your love towards your passion. Get into the zone to be focused and positive. Do what You like to do. Doesn’t matter if it is a small or a big thing. Create an idea (Yes, You need only one), follow your heart, prepare to fall but stand up and start again. Just remember, the only one that can stop you to follow your Passion is YOU. So, give a chance to your passion, be successful, create your story and motivate others around you.
I have started following my Passion, have You? If not then what are you waiting for? – Jet-Set-Go
Have a nice day.
